This program’s curriculum is oriented toward Hapkido black-belts; however, we will also consider Hapkido red-belts or experienced martial artists with a strong background in related arts, such as Jujutsu, Judo, Aikido, Hwa Rang Do, Kuk Sool Won, Chin Na, Taekwondo, and so forth. All prospective students must already possess: a strong foundation in joint locks and throws; proficiency in executing breakfalls; good fitness; the ability to train hard without causing unnecessary injury to others; and a desire to engage in vigorous, strenuous workout-sessions lasting three to four hours.
Classes are small and there is substantial one-on-one teaching and training. Although not a specific requirement, the average Masters Program student has been training in the martial arts for 15 to 30 years. Some students teach in other martial arts organizations or have run their own schools. Many like studying here because they are able to more fully focus on their own training and development, without the additional responsibility of teaching others.
Masters Program participants are a small group of dedicated martial artists who enjoy vigorous training with other skilled practitioners who are pleasant, mature, honest, compassionate, and safe to be around. We only accept individuals who are motivated, emotionally mature, serious about training, and plan to attend regularly. If you have questions or would like to come by and observe the class, please contact us. Master Classes are held Sundays 9am to 12pm at the California State University East Bay, PE Building, 2nd Floor, Room PE201, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd, Hayward CA 94542. We also schedule impromptu workouts during the week. Our training area is over 5500 square feet, and includes 1540 square feet of permanent mats. For further information, please contact us.
